Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia)
is a type of fruit that originates from the Amazon. Depending on the state of ripeness, it reaches up to 40 times higher vitamin C content than lemons and oranges. In addition to vitamins C, B1, B2, and B3, it contains a large number of minerals, anthocyanins, bioflavonoids, and several amino acids. It has a sour taste and slightly harder skin than grapes, under which there is a decent concentration of polyphenols. I wrote earlier that the trade in powder and capsules from this fruit is a simple deception. Peruvian producers dehydrate it at too high temperatures, burning the entire content of vitamin C as well as most of the polyphenols. Natural vitamin C is not stable at high temperatures or light. The content of camu camu raw materials from Peru includes seeds, which make up the majority of the total weight of the product. They are very bitter and poorly nutritious.
