HOW THE CHINESE MACA WAS CREATED?

Since its commercialization in the begining of the year 2000, Maca crops in Peru have been increasing over 15 years to meet growing global demand. In 2015, China took the lead in the Maca trade, strongly devaluing it, and for the first time, Peruvians sowed less of their crops than in the previous year. The thing has became so serious that during the 2018-2019 sowing season, we were one of the few companies that decided to go on with cultivation of Maca. So the period 2019-2020 was extremely critical in the search for quality Peruvian maca on the world market.
Since the year 2000, the Chinese have been unsuccessfully trying to seize Peruvian treasure. In 2002, in order to protect its national interest, the Peruvian government banned the export of whole Maca roots and seeds that could be used for its cultivation. In the years that followed, the Chinese illegally and in an organized manner exported seed material and Maca roots across the poorly guarded Bolivian border for the purpose of researching and improving its cultivation in the Chinese mountainous province of Yunnan. That project never succeeded, due to the big difference in soil composition and unsuitable climatic conditions. Chinese maca has that much degenerated root that it looks more like ginger, primarily due to the excessive amount of carcinogenic fertilizers they use. It has been scientifically proven that Peruvian maca is an original product, closely dependent on the highlands of the Andes, extremely rich in minerals, with an ideal altitude of 3,900-4,300 m and proximity to the Equator. In Peru, the situation on the ground is such that if you are not able to physically control the Maca plantations, processing, and export, you fall under the empty promises of tricky Peruvian traders. The majority of Peruvian traders have always mixed it with other ingredients or processed Maca of poor quality. After all, who could see the deference?  2019, in the scarcity of Maca, it was usual to mix it with banana powder. In the summer of 2020 Maca became one of the most scarce national foods because its crops were almost gone. The latest innovation in trade machinations was to import the cheap Chinese maca into Peru and resale it to world buyers, with the counterfeit origin of goods as Peruvian.

The price of Chinese maca root is incomparably lower, and that was reason enough for large European or US  distributors of supplements to switch to a more profitable business. As a result, there has been no real Peruvian Maca around for many years; the users do not feel the effect of the Chinese variety and give up consuming it. The concentration of the alkaloids macaenes and acamides is crucial in Peruvian maca. It is the most effective known medicine for the pituitary gland, whose dysfunction is becoming more serious with age. It is a great discovery, and only Peruvian maca contains it in great concentration. In the analysis of our gelatinized maca powder, the measured content of macaenes and macamides is 0.94%. Download it by clicking on the analysis. The best recorded finding of Peruvian maca growers in recent years is 0.72%. Of the order of magnitude, the Chinese maca contain 0.01-0.05% of them.
